Last week, we were pleased to welcome Jonatan Kurzwelly, senior researcher at the Peace Research Institute Frankfurt, for a short visit to the Centre. Jonatan will be staying at CAS with his research group in February as part of the Constructive Advanced Thinking (CAT) programme.

We are thrilled to announce the research projects chosen for the 2025/2026 academic year.

Over the past year, CAS has hosted Professor Attila Tanyi and Senior Lecturer Mathea Slåttholm Sagdahl, along with their team of researchers, for the project "The Profoundest Problem in Ethics" (PROFOUND). This ambitious project delved into the intricate conflicts between moral and prudential reasons, a theme that challenges conventional approaches in philosophical research.

Kurusch Ebrahimi-Fard, Professor at the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and Fabian Nøst Harang, Professor in Mathematics at BI Norwegian Business, is co-leading the CAS project "Signatures for Images" this academic year. This unique initiative aims to build mathematical foundations for image classification, leveraging iterated-integrals signature in the context of rough paths theory. It’s a venture at the intersection of algebra, stochastic analysis, and geometry, involving experts in machine learning to explore real-world applications and investigate the statistical properties of image signatures.

The Swedish Collegium for Advanced Study (SCAS) has announced their call for applications for the newly established Nordic Fellowship Programme. The programme is funded by Riksbankens Jubileumsfond (RJ).
