We have some fantastic news to share: Professor Camilla Serck-Hanssen, CAS' esteemed director, has been offered an extension by our Board of Directors to continue in her role for another four years, until August 2029.

This month’s alumna is none other than our own Camilla Serck-Hanssen, professor of philosophy at the University of Oslo (UiO), former project leader at the Centre, and now director of CAS.

Frode Kjosavik and Camilla Serck-Hanssen recently published the book Metametaphysics and the Sciences: Historical and Philosophical Perspectives, a product of the CAS project the two philosophers led in 2015/16.

The 2015/16 CAS project leader is the alumna of the month for August 2018 -- and the new executive director of the Centre.

'We learnt from Kant that science has a tendency to go beyond its own limits', Professor Camilla Serck-Hanssen says. She and Professor Frode Kjosavik lead a CAS project about the oldest, most basic philosophical questions that to untrained minds might seem unanswerable.

We are proud to announce that two of the 34 centres invited to the final round for the new Norwegian Centres of Excellence (SFF) are led by two of our current CAS group leaders, Atle Mysterud and Camilla Serck-Hanssen.

The project Conceptual Engineering, led by Camilla Serck-Hanssen, Øystein Linnebo and Herman Cappelen, has received a 5 year Toppforsk grant.
