Celebrating the Young CAS Fellows for 2021-23
Helen Frances Leslie-Jacobsen, Daniele Miano, Kristin Shaw and Kjetil Lysne Voje were earlier this year selected as the four Young CAS Fellows for the period of 2021-23.
The coronavirus pandemic prevented CAS from hosting an award ceremony to celebrate the announcement of the four fellows. Instead, CAS chose to recognize them digitally.
‘I am very excited to learn about what you will achieve and what your findings will be,’ Henrik Asheim, the Norwegian Minister of Research and Higher Education, said to the Young CAS Fellows.
Asheim wished the four scholars the best of luck and applauded the work that CAS and the Young Academy of Norway do to promote fundamental research and young research talents.

Expanded Young CAS Fellow programme
‘It is extra gratifying for me that this year we also celebrate the launch of our new two-year Young CAS Fellow programme,’ said Camilla Serck-Hanssen, scientific director of CAS.
The four Young CAS Fellow projects will be the first enrolled in CAS’ two-year programme for young scholars. During the first year, the fellows will organise three intensive workshops, enabling them to develop their research projects and grow their professional networks. The second year is a condensed version of what regular CAS project leaders do, namely gather a core group of colleagues for a research stay at the Centre with time and space to focus fully on their research. The stay lasts for two months.
The Young CAS Fellow programme was designed by CAS and the Young Academy of Norway with support from The Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters to promote outstanding early-career researchers.
‘We hope you will benefit from this fantastic opportunity to focus on your own research projects together with your dream research partners,’ said Ingrid Lossius Falkum, chair of the Young Academy of Norway.
