CAS welcomes new partner

Scientific Director at CAS, Camilla Serck-Hanssen expressed her delight to have USN as CASs newest partner: ‘This partnership represents USNs dedication to basic research, and we look forward to an active and engaging partnership with USN in the coming years’, she continued.

Faculty members at USN who hold permanent positions are now eligible to apply for the CAS Research Grant. The successful applicants will serve as PIs and assemble and lead a research group for one academic year at CAS. Early career scholars below the age of 40 may apply to the Young CAS Grant. The programme offers residential fellowships designed to empower and support young researchers in their pursuit of career development and network expansion. USN will grant their researchers sabbatical leave while they are at CAS, either as project leaders or as fellows.

The new partnership will benefit CAS, the researchers themselves as well as their institution. CAS projects are often successfully developed into larger research centres providing added value to their home institution. Our member institutions earn publication points for research that originates from a stay at CAS.

How to become a partner

The Centre accepts applications from Norwegian institutions and elects up to two new partners per year. Applications are reviewed annually at the board meeting in February.

While there is no direct cost associated with the partnership, partner institutions contribute to the collaboration by providing scholars from their institutions with fully paid sabbatical leave during their stay at CAS.
