The research group After Discourse: Things, Archaeology, and Heritage in the 21st Century welcomes you to its Friday seminar at CAS.

Friday November 18, Tone Huse will give the paper "Object Study, Blok P". In the paper, Huse will discuss a study she conducted together with photographer Carsten Aniksdal, on the materiality and biography of Blok P in Nuuk, Greenland, its construction in the 60s, its social implications, and the potentials opened for through its recent demolition. Tone Huse is a social geographer and post doctoral fellow at TIK Centre for Technology, Innovation and Culture at the University of Oslo. Her research interests involve the geographies and materialities of politics and policy making, the relationship between science and politics, and the use of governmental technologies in political work. Huse has studied the manifestations of these processes through e.g. political activist's use of public space, gentrification, integration, post-colonial urbanism and urban climate politics. Among Huse's publications are the books Tøyengata - et nyrikt stykke Norge (Flamme Forlag, 2010), for which she received Brageprisen in 2010, and Everyday Life in the Gentrifying City: On Displacement, Ethnic Privileging and the Right to Stay Put (Ashgate, 2014). Huse is currently affiliated with the project «Enacting the good economy: Biocapitaliszation and the little tools of valuation».

The seminar takes place in the Turret room (top floor) at CAS, at the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters (Drammensveien 78) and starts at 14:15. Entrance is on the east side of the building (ring door bell if locked).
