2nd Methods Seminar: Estimation of Excess Death Rates From Mortality Time Series
Held by Gerardo Chowell-Puente, professor of epidemiology and biostatistics, and Sushma Dahal, PhD Candidate, both at Georgia State University, School of Public Health.
Gerardo is currently a fellow at CAS on the project Social Science Meets Biology.
In this practical seminar, the presenters will introduce statistical methodology to derive estimates of excess death rates from mortality time series utilising Serfling-type models. The presenters will provide hands-on examples using data from the 1918 flu pandemic and the COVID-19 pandemic.
