CAS fellow Irina Shklovski (University of Copenhagen) and PI Kjetil Rommetveit have been awarded funding from NordForsk for the project ‘Data Quality for Responsible AI in Energy Systems (DARES)’. Shklovski will lead the project, while Rommetveit will participate in the project as a partner, leading the work package on regulation.

The funding comes through the Nordic-Baltic initiative on responsible use of Artificial Intelligence, which selected 17 research projects

from 200 proposals to receive a combined NOK 300 million in support for ethical AI development. ‘DARES’ investigates the relationship between energy systems, data and AI, focusing on the challenges of data quality for responsible AI in the green transition.

Rommetveit is currently leading the CAS project ‘Acting on AI: Digital Constitutionalism in the Age of Artificial Intelligence’ for the 2025/2026 academic year at CAS, where Shklovski is also a fellow. 'The NordForsk project will provide an excellent opportunity to further explore themes from their joint CAS research. Specifically, DARES will provide opportunity to explore increasingly tight interrelations between regulation and technology, and how EU regulations on AI play out in the Nordic / Baltic regions.

We congratulate Shklovski and Rommetveit on this achievement and look forward to following the project's development.
