This year, the American Geophysical Union (AGU) has added Francois Renard to its roster of distinguished honorees. Renard, who leads the CAS project 'Friction and Fracture and the Onset of Geohazards (FricFrac)' together with Anders Malthe Sørensen, was recognized for his pivotal contributions to experimental and theoretical geophysics and geochemistry.

It is with great enthusiasm that the Centre for Advanced Study (CAS) unveils the two chosen Young CAS Principal Investigators (PIs) for the upcoming two-year term: Professor Francesca Refsum Jensenius from the University of Oslo, who offers a penetrating analysis of the democratic processes in India, and Researcher Gaute Linga from The Njord Centre, University of Oslo, focusing on the intricate process of water infiltration in soils.

Catherine A. Bradley, who in 2020/2021 was awarded our Young CAS Grant for her project 'Scattered Songs in Scandinavia', has now been granted the prestigious Dent Medal by the Royal Musical Association.

The first publication from the CAS project 'Exploring the Archaeological Migration Narrative: The Introduction of Farming and Animal Husbandry in Southern Norway', led by Daniela Hofmann and Martin Furholt back in 2021/2022, has been unveiled through the Sidestone Press.

CAS proudly participated in Arendalsuka 2023, a Norwegian political festival held annually in Arendal during the month of August.
